Checkboxes in Alerts listing

Would it be possible to have checkboxes in the Alerts listing, and then have "Delete Selected", "Acknowledge Selected", "Select All" and "Unselect All" buttons to the bottom?  I often run into the case where I have Acknowledged a bunch of alerts, and want to keep them in place. But if I then get a bunch of new, unrelated notices that I want to Delete all at once, I have to Delete them individually if I want to preserve my acknowledged set of alerts.  Otherwise if I Delete all alerts, I have to Acknowledge my nagging alerts all over again. Having a checkbox type interface would solve this nicely.
